Taylor Hamm, 26, passed away Tuesday, 15 months after she was hit in the early morning accident in Lawrenceville, according to the obituary posted on Tom M. Wages Funeral Service’s website. Her funeral is set for 2 p.m. on April 7 at the funeral home’s chapel at 120 Scenic Highway in Lawrenceville.A visitation will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. April 6 at the funeral home.The accident that left Hamm in a coma spawned a months-long investigation into whether charges should be brought against the driver who hit her. Rather than stopping at the scene of the accident, the driver continued onto her job at Gwinnett Medical Center and then called 9-1-1 to report the incident.Under Georgia law, a driver must stop at the scene of an accident where a serious injury or death has occurred. The driver in this accident was not charged with hit and run, however, because police said she reported that she had been in accident as soon as she arrived at her job at the hospital.Hamm’s parents wanted charges filed against the driver though.District Attorney Danny Porter’s Office later opened an investigation into the case.
